Phase 4:
Creating a Project Proposal
After deciding on my game idea from Phase Three it is now time to create a proposal for the game. This proposal should elaborate on the Content we will have to make for the project, the research conducted for the project and what processes we will use to make it.
Engine Tests:
After setting out the goals of having a photorealistic 3D game we looked into what engine we should make it in and whether we should consider stepping away from unity. So we tested out Unreal Engine and tried making some photoreal environments in it to see if it would work for us. This worked really well.
As well as artistic capabilities we also need to consider the functionality of the engine, so we made a small grey box environment to make sure that we could create something playable. the functions that Unreal has actually made this a really quick task. Character Concepts:
Protagonist:
Antagonist:
We wanted to make sure for the start of our development in semester two we had concepts for both our protagonist and antagonist, this will allow us to start with creating assets as well as give us an accurate vision of the characters while we are still concepting the game and the structure. To learn more about these designs and how we got to them click on the respective buttons below.
Presentation:
We presented all the Phase Four progress and got an overall positive feedback with only a worry of scope being too large, but as long as we try and keep ontop of it and scale down if we need to we should be fine to create wayfinder in semester two.
