Phase Four: Protagonist

Updated: Jan 21, 2022

From the rough ideas that were presented at the end of Phase Three we discussed how we wanted the robots (as well as our protagonist) to look, the style of robot they would be and key features that would allow them to express themselves as I discussed in my presentations for both Phase two and three.

So we discussed the idea of the robots being not (chrome) metal as that would allude too them being a more threatening design as I dissuaded in my Robots in the media blog. but instead more of a plastic like out PC towers were in the 90s, this would not only create a comforting nostalgia to them but a more friendly cream/white colour that would subconsciously instil a less threatening aura about them.

This is the character section of our art bible and it shows a range of things we want to base the main character off, as well as the pcs themselves we want to make sure we incorporate old 90s tech logos as shown on the right side of this image.

This is the design that we have settled on for the end of phase four, he has simple limbs and hinged joints as well as simple and bold eyes so it can articulate expressions with them. The robot also is made of the plastic that the PC are made of and I think this overall design is very true to our design goals.

It may go through more iterations as it transitions to 3D but this is the final concept image that will be presented at the end of Phase Four.
