Barclay's Eagle Labs Event:

Updated: Jun 9, 2022

in the middle of development our group had the pleasure of being able to present what we had so far at The Barclays Eagle Labs event, this was a chance for our team, some fresh new talent in games design to present to some people from the industry as well as network and playtest our game.

Playtesting:

We started the day off with some play testing from other students that were attending the event, this was the first 'public' playlets and was a good chance to see what people did with the game once they got their hands on it.

Already they felt an emotional connection the the NPCs that were walking around wit the sad animation, this was a massive relief since the only people who had been seeing the game already had the knowledge of this from the development/ pitch so it was amazing to see our design actually being portrayed in the players reaction.

Presentation:

We then went on to do a presentation about our game, its concept and its development so far. this was done in a room of 50+ people so it was really exciting to have the opportunity to show our games idea and concept to such an audience.

we answered questions from people in the industry as well as other game developers their asking about the scale and production so far, this was a great way to see what was the most engaging to the audience about our game.

Finishing up the presentation I invited anyone who haden't already to come play our game and then ask us questions, this was perfect as it transitioned into the networking phase of the event as our arcade cabinets which had the games on were in the room where the event took place.

Networking:

This was a fun way to just hear more about the industry and talk to people about the stuff we were making it wasn't anything revolutionary but it just encouraged more development over the coming weeks.

As well as this it encourages some research going forward as one person asked 'what are you working on the game right now?' to which I replied the music and how its all done procedurally and he pointed me in the direction of Cyril Saint Girons and his work on spore which I will be looking into more.
